History Of Roots

Roots is the name Teacha Dan gave to his Amsterdam based reggae specialty store. This was a tiny shop in the center of Amsterdam which opened it's doors in January of 1999. Prior to being a shopowner Teacha Dan had been buyer in training at Fame Music, also in Amsterdam, and had been salesperson at various Free Record Shops in the Netherlands. The Roots shop lasted for five years but it did just not deliver enough revenue to keep on going.

After the shop closed the Roots Music Store became ROOTS MUSIC Reggae and Dancehall, a company which specialized in merchandising at shows and festivals. Though this was always loads of fun and nice hard work it could no longer be combined with fatherhood after Teacha Dan's second child was born.
